Keratoacanthoma

Project description

Keratoacanthoma refers to benign skin tumor of the hair follicles. The affected dogs are usually less than five years old when diagnosed. A dog ccan have one or several lumps, several referring to generalized form. Generalized keratoacanthoma can cause problems such as pain and inflammation to the affected dog. A higher risk for malign skin tumors have also been suggested.

 

Breeds

Norwegian Elkhound.

Samples from keratoacanthoma affected dogs from all breeds are welcome.

 

Which samples are needed:

  • dogs that have been diagnosed with keratoacanthoma
  • close relatives (parents, siblings, offspring) of the affected dogs
  • healthy dogs over 6 years of age
